Hearing Voices

Everybody has a story to be told. A voice. A perspective.
And there is a fundamental human need to be heard.
When our voice is met with deaf ears - left unacknowledged, unappreciated, misunderstood - we question our identity, our humanity, and our value in existing.
If a tree falls in an empty forest, does it make a sound?
If our speech eludes an audience, have we even truly spoken?
Humans are inherently social creatures. We seek validation in our interactions with others. We find consolation in shared experiences and emotions.
When we reveal our vulnerabilities to others - disclosing our sufferings, aspirations, and fears - we are better able to confront these feelings in ourselves. The very act of expressing ourselves to another allows us to consolidate our otherwise ethereal thoughts and mental chatter. It is both a confession and a catharsis.
The pain of perpetual, involuntary invisibility leaves a scar: to be forgotten and ignored can neither be forgotten nor ignored.
Everyone wants to be heard. Everyone deserves to be heard.
And I will always be there to listen.
